Curio Cabinet makeover

This little gem was given to me as a potential refurbishment project. At first, I could not see its potential. Grateful, nevertheless, for the opportunity, I took it home and let it speak to me in its own time. Cleaning the piece is often my way of getting to know it and this started to offer me some ideas. Sticking with Rust-oleum chalk paint, I used antique white, using several layers to give it full coverage. I decoupaged the back using gorgeously patterned paper found locally. This piece was perfect for some slight distressing and I completed it with clear wax. I really like wax as a finish because it enriches the colour of the paint and gives it a soft finish. I’d gone from sceptic to lover during its transformation and was sad to let it go.
