This well-travelled little stunner was hiding behind old paint, years of family use and changing roles. Despite its humble beginnings, the straight lines and simplicity of construction offered a perfect backdrop for a do-over. To be honest, I was a little uncertain how this would turn out. Especially the colour. My client wanted the colours to reflect another piece she had in her office space. Rich red, brown wood tones contrasted with Lignocolor’s Deep Sea with gold accents.
After some experimentation (I used a mahogany stain, then light walnut and finished it with cold-pressed linseed oil) the desired colour started to come through. Contrasted with the blue/green drawer fronts, new gold drawer nobs and artwork, the whole piece has come together nicely. I love this piece and am delighted whenever a client or new owner feels that joy too.
